The fantasy… the employees will enjoy the training and will apply their new knowledge in the workplace. We pay them to do this, so participants should apply their new skills and develop an attitude to solve problems.
The reality... most corporate training is dry, dull, boring, and unimaginative. Participants are secretly contemplating ways to "end it now" so that they don't have to sit through another 4 hours of this mind-numbing drivel. There will be no application of knowledge and absolutely nothing will change in workplace behavior.
Enter gamification – driving motivation, with the hope of engaging us and alluring us just as games do. But with a potentially significant cost for development and a high chance of failure, is gamification something that we can or should recommend to the C-team?
This week, learn how to use a low-tech, low-cost, high-impact gamification strategy as your gateway drug. Get 'em hooked and coming back for more!
